Meet the Staff

The Prospectus is entirely created by Parkland students. These students serve in a variety of roles that include writing and editing articles, taking photographs, managing the website, and more.

Santiago Gonzalez Ahuerma

Editor-in-Chief

Santiago Gonzalez Ahuerma is a first-year Psychology major at Parkland. He was born in Mexico City and moved to Urbana with his family when he was four years old, residing in the Champaign-Urbana area ever since. Some of his hobbies, aside from writing, include watching almost any sport, listening to music (one of his favorite songs currently is, “Bumpin’” by Wes Montgomery), and spending time outdoors whether that be walking his dogs, playing basketball, or exploring nature. He hopes to provide the readers of his articles with either a good laugh or factual information, though he cannot guarantee both.

Chloe Leonard

Chloe Leonard is a sophomore Parkland Pathway student, she is currently majoring in Media. This is her second semester with the Prospectus. She enjoys being outside, learning, and hanging out with her friends. With the Prospectus she love getting to be involved with Parklands community and informing other individuals about life on campus!

Tayon Swift

Tayon Swift is a freshman with no shortage of diverse interests who has found his home at Parkland. He is currently seeking a certificate in Music Business and an associate’s degree in Psychology. One thing he loves is to peek behind the curtains of everything from the arts to athletics and aims to give readers the same experience. He firmly believes that anyone can pick up any skill they put their minds to and is currently learning to produce his own songs and create his own clothing. Keep an eye out for his artist interviews and deep dives into the unique communities of Champaign County!

Madeline Almaroad

Madeline Almaroad is a second year Parkland student who is majoring in English literature. She’s an aspiring writer who hopes to be able to write books for a living one day. When she’s not writing she enjoys reading, listening to music, and hanging out with friends. She strives to write high quality articles that are both informative and entertaining. She hopes to use this opportunity to further connect with the community and to develop her writing skills.

Fiona Taylor

Photographer

Fiona Taylor (she/her)  is a sophomore in general education at Parkland College. Wanting a career in photojournalism, she has served on her high school’s yearbook staff and has taken two photography classes at Parkland. Her hobbies include: exercise, taking photos of interesting out of the way places, listening to music, and spending time with family and friends. She believes the most interesting part of working as a reporter and a photographer in general is being able to learn how others see and experience the world.

Trista Hansen

Trista Hansen is a sophomore at Parkland College aiming to transfer to a four-year university in order to major in journalism and minor in linguistics. Ever since she was a child, she has had a love for writing, in which she started out writing short stories. Now, she spends her free time writing songs or poems, as well as listening to a great amount of music. 

Mia Lascano

Social Media Manager

Mia is a second semester engineering science student with a minor in physics. She used to participate in many soccer showcases while living in Chicago. She is immensely proud to express her family’s Peruvian culture and heritage. You will often hear her say ““viva Peru, un-Dia llegaremos al Cupa Mundial.” In her free time, she likes to spend time with her lovely cat panda and playing soccer with her sisters. You will catch her frequently making trips to Betty’s bistro to get red bulls or coffee to satisfy her caffeine addiction. Mia is excited to learn about the diverse community that parkland has to offer and share it with the Champaign Community.

Sarah Jacobson

Sarah Jacobson is a freshman in the Parkland pathways program and is majoring in Communications.  She has always had a passion for writing, and through joining the Prospectus she hopes to share that and become more involved in Parkland’s community.  When she’s not writing she loves to listen to music, hang out with friends, and crochet! She strives to put out her best work and looks forward to this opportunity.

Jaimee Hudson

Jaimee is a second-year student at Parkland. She has a passion for writing and joined The Prospectus to be more involved in Parkland’s community. Her hobbies are playing video games, watching movies, cooking, and listening to music. She’s an Aries and a cat lover. In her free time, she likes to travel and do hair and makeup. By reporting for The Prospectus, she hopes to bring light to all of the interesting things happening at Parkland.

Nolan Decker

Nolan Decker is a sophomore in Data Systems and Development at Parkland while currently freeloading in his parent’s basement. His hobbies include playing video games, watching movies, and listening to music. His favorite movie is “The VelociPastor”. His goal with the Prospectus is to provide users a good experience on the website.
