Two weeks ago, Parkland College students had the opportunity to intertwine creativity with kindness through Art Cards for a Good Cause. This event was hosted by Morgan Frush, a Parkland student who is also a Courage Connection intern.
Held both Tuesday, April 8, in the Student Union and Thursday, April 10, in the College Center from noon to 1 p.m., the event invited students to design unique art cards, which would contribute to a larger collage. Frush stated that people had the opportunity to stop by and make a mini collage, whether silly or meaningful.
Once it is completed, the collage will be auctioned off at the Resist Art Fair on Saturday, May 3. This event will include art, music, makers and a bake sale. All proceeds will be donated to the IMC, Courage Connection, UP Center, YMCA-New American Welcome Center and Dream.
Courage Connection is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing shelter, resources and advocacy for survivors of domestic violence. By participating, students can express their creativity whilst effectively contributing to something meaningful that will uplift those going through a difficult time.
Students, through utilizing both art and compassion, strengthen Parkland College’s commitment to community engagement. Once the complete collage is donated, it will support and encourage those who need it
