Volleyball team ends season strong
Parkland’s volleyball program finished with a record of 52 wins and three losses, earning their sixth straight trip to the National Tournament in Toledo, Ohio. There, however, the Lady Cobras fell to the top seeded Cowley County Community College in a five set affair to earn the 2013 National Runner-Up.
A spike of success for Parkland volleyball
Parkland’s volleyball team is entering the National Tournament for the sixth year in a row. The Cobras open up national play Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013 as the second seed facing the 15 seeded Moraine Valley College at 11 a.m. and are looking to bring gold back to Champaign for the first time in a long time.
Cobra women’s soccer end season early
Parkland women’s soccer performed another good season with a record of 15 and five and a region 24 record of five wins and one loss.
Cobras basketball begin season
Parkland men’s and women’s basketball will soon retake the floor for the winter season. Both teams have put in a lot of hours for practice and are now ready to show it off on the court.
Golf winds down fall season
It was a solid fall season. Especially after losing defending National Champion David Keenan to Chicago State, no one was sure how good this team would really be, but they showed it through their play in the fall portion of this long season.
Parkland athletics help the community
The athletic program at Parkland works hard to help out their community by volunteering their time and abilities at special events throughout the year.
There are several different programs that these athletes take part in. One is the Down’s syndrome Buddy Walk that men’s basketball helps out with.
Men’s basketball returns to the hardwood
As the basketball season begins, Parkland is looking to have a good start after last year’s season that was not quite what the team had hoped for.
Parkland ended last year with a record of 18 wins and 12 losses and a first round loss to John Wood Community College at the Region 24 Tournament, a tournament that the Cobras had aspirations of winning.
Volleyball more than just a game
Volleyball is a game motored by hard work, dedication and work ethic, but it also goes much deeper than that. Volleyball coaches across the country spend endless days and nights with recruiting, game film and scouting, which adds another factor to this already tough sport.
Cobra softball begins fall season
For Parkland’s softball team the season is beginning with the Fall League games.
The Fall League is a season that runs from September to the first part of October and consists of 15 games. These include matchups against Division One opponents, Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville and the University of Illinois.
