The four months between the fall and spring baseball seasons are deemed the "off-season" to most fans and players. However, the Parkland Cobras baseball program thinks otherwise.

The Cobras baseball program has seen its share of successful African-American players. One of the most notable was class of 2003 outfielder Michael Coles from Hammond, Ind.

The Parkland Cobras Men's basketball team is beginning to hit their stride as they have won six of their last seven games, including a perfect record in the month of December.

The Parkland Women's Basketball team celebrated the holiday's early as they dominated Lincoln Trail 86-49 at the Dodds Athletic Center on Saturday afternoon. 

The Parkland Cobras men's basketball team finished the month of December a perfect 5 for 5 as they beat Lewis & Clark for the second time this season 77-66 Saturday afternoon in Godfrey, IL. 

Sophomore setter Melanie Moore and freshman hitter Morgan Martells have been named NJCAA D-2 Volleyball All-Americans.

Even with a 5-6 start to the season, the Parkland Cobras Men's basketball team is still bursting with optimism. The Cobras have been tested early and often this season, playing a number of games on the road, including a strong showing at the Lakeland Invitational.

The 2011 Cobras volleyball season was a season of many triumphs and few disappointments as the team finished off the year with a 41-8 record and a 9^th place finish at the national tournament.

Due to NCAA rules restrictions the 2011 State Farm Shootout at the Hall will be played at the Dodds Athletic Center at Parkland College, and not the Assembly Hall.

Despite losing their leading scorer from a year ago, the Cobras women's basketball team is still poised to make a run at nationals. Head coach Karrie Redeker's club, which consists of nine freshman and four sophomores, is currently on a six game win streak.

The Parkland Cobras baseball program and head coach Matt Kennedy are beginning to grow accustomed to seeing their players move on. This past week twelve players signed national letters of intent to continue their playing careers at four year schools next year.

The Parkland College Volleyball team will find out if four is their lucky number as they have earned the #4 seed for this year's NJCAA National Tournament.

Cobras headed to Nationals for 4th straight year

The Parkland Cobras volleyball team traveled south to Godfrey, Illinois for the Region 24 finals with a berth for nationals on the line and they did not disappoint as the Cobras beat Lewis and Clark 3-0 and ICC 3-2 to claim their fourth straight trip to the NJCAA D-2 National Tournament.

All it took was a single click on a friend's Facebook post. With it, Lana Sumpter - a Tennessee university professor - began a three-year habit that has consumed many late night hours and cost many thousands of dollars.
