The Parkland Cobras men's basketball team finished the month of December a perfect 5 for 5 as they beat Lewis & Clark for the second time this season 77-66 Saturday afternoon in Godfrey, IL.

The Cobras came out and gained control of the game from the start. Strong guard play and offensive execution allowed Parkland to convert high percentage shots from the field, but more importantly, it was the Cobra defense that put Lewis & Clark on their heels. Parkland was able to allow only 24 first half points for the Trailblazers, leading 34-24. The second half would see that lead expand to as many as 18 before the Trailblazers would go on their final run closing it to 5 points late in the second half. That would be the closest the home team would get before Parkland pulled away with free throws, finishing 26-33 for the game from the foul line.

Leading the way for Parkland was Shaq Lowery who had a career high 29 points, including (4) 3-pointers on the night. Mark Gilchrese and Cody McCollum chipped in 10 as the only other Cobras in double figures. The Trailblazers also had 3 players in double figures including Aqui Shareef with a team high 18 points, followed by Dominique Walls and Marlon Sykes with 11 and 10 respectively.

The Cobras (9-6) will take a break until after the New Year when they head back on the road to play in a 2-game classic January 6-7 at Southeastern Community College in West Burlington, Iowa.
