Despite the fact that Valentines Day is a completely commercialized holiday, people really enjoy celebrating it, girls especially. There are a lot of things that girls like to do for Valentines Day, and here are some activities that could be considered for date ideas from a girl's perspective. Warning: though some of these things may seem cliché and slightly nauseating, really, there's a reason why they're popular.There's definitely something about a cute coffee shop that many girls enjoy as an ideal romantic date spot. Is it the casual air, or the quiet atmosphere? It's hard to say, but it's enjoyable none-the-less. It's a perfect place to hold a conversation with whomever you're spending the day with, so go ahead, share a croissant with your petit copain.
A bookstore is another really fun idea for a middle-of-the-day date. Girls like poetry, and what could be better then picking up a book of poems by John Skelton and reading some classic literature? Nothing screams romance more than a good book. You could even include the first date idea and hit up the bookstore's coffee shop whilst enjoying a good book.
Going to see a movie is a bit passé, but it's more interesting in a retro movie theater. The beautiful Virginia Theatre provides an awesome setting for a date, especially since it's located in downtown Champaign where there are tons of food options. It has a beautiful décor and a comfortable feeling that makes it feel like a home rather than a movie theater, and a girl is more than likely going to appreciate that. Other theaters in town can't compare in beauty, and really, that's more important on your beloved Valentines Day.
If a night out isn't what you're looking for, a night in might be just as good. Seeing that February is a rather cold month, spending Valentines Day inside might be a good thing, Girls typically like it when their significant others make them dinner, it means something when someone cares enough to cook for you. Staying in can be just as much fun as going out, mainly because there's no hassle in picking out a place to go or making reservations. You can just hang out and spend some time away from other people all while having the having the same great bonding experience, and for quite a bit cheaper.
If none of these options appeal to you or your significant other, arts and crafts are always a good way to go. Really, does Valentines Day have to be serious? Some girls like to do more expensive things, but many are happy doing simple activities to spend time with the people they love. There are many girls out there that enjoy making things such as cards, and making Valentines cards for other people is fun and satisfying, especially because it's original. Most store bought cards are corny anyways so why not have some fun and put an original twist on your own cards?
It also brings you back to when you were a kid and when Valentines Day was different. All you needed was a homemade card to give to someone you like. Making cards with someone is a great way to spend time together, and more than likely a better experience because the lack of difficulty.
Really, as long as you're together, that's the important thing. Valentines Day is just an excuse to show someone that you really care for them, and you don't really need a holiday to do that. So go out, have fun, and spend time with the person you love.
